hibernate
As a co-author of Harnessing Hibernate, I get to hear about some of the feedback the book has received from time to time. James recently shared a letter he received about the book, a real "letter": signed, sealed, and delivered by the United States Postal Service. How archaic? Someone decided to read a computer book, type up a letter, and mail a physical artifact.
First, a review from Liz Hills. Liz gave the book five stars and she writes:
There has been a real lack of good, up to date, READABLE books about Hibernate on the market. You only have to scan amazon to see some of the horrible reviews many books have received. But this book is excellent, and I can assure you that many five star reviews will follow this one.Another Five Star review from W.
Harnessing Hibernate was published today. If you use Hibernate, you should check it out. In this book, James Elliot, Ryan Fowler, and I updated James' first edition Developer's Notebook. The Second Edition is much thicker than the first edition, and it covers some additional topics including: Spring Integration and Annotations.
Maven Hibernate3 Plugin
I've helped Johann Reyes release the next version of the Maven Hibernate3 plugin. While it still lacks a good deal of documentation, I fixed a few bugs and made sure that the documentation was a bit more polished. You can use this plugin to do almost anything you can do with the hibernate tools project.
